GIDEP Benefits For Our Customers

Tony Reveruzzi

Component Dynamics is a member of the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP), a network of partners that share technical information as a cost-saving measure. Here we explain what that means for our customers, and how we rely on this resource for risk mitigation and counterfeit avoidance.

About GIDEP

Data made available by GIDEP is extremely valuable. Whenever an organization comes across an item that is suspected of being counterfeit, it is reported to GIDEP and shared with the thousands of network members.

Membership is open to industrial organizations in the United States and Canada that provide items or services (directly or indirectly) to the U.S. Government or to the Canadian Department of Defense. Licensed U.S. Public Utilities Companies, as well as American and Canadian government departments, agencies, and activities can also be admitted.

Since 1959, GIDEP members have reported over $2.1 billion in prevention of unplanned expenditures.

Why GIDEP?

GIDEP provides a best practices operations manual with reporting requirements and procedures for the exchange of information, data and reports, as well as training classes and materials.

Each member organization designates a GIDEP representative who acts as a liaison and keeps up-to-date on the latest happenings.

What GIDEP Means For Our Customers

Among the many benefits of GIDEP membership is an Urgent Data Request (UDR) service, which allows organizations to query others for technical information on newer issues or sources of supplies as parts become obsolete.

This tool features a web interface that has flexible field searches, field oriented reports, and full documents provided in PDF format. It enables members to perform searches on a variety of technical issues and access to GIDEP member contact information.
